Swiss Commission of Oceanography and Limnology (COL)

The Commission for Oceanography and Limnology (COL) of the Swiss Academy of Sciences coordinates Swiss oceanographic and limnological education and research opportunities. It is composed of 8 members, experts in limnology or oceanography, spread across Switzerland.

The commission has these main goals:

• PROVIDE expertise on limnology and oceanography, as well as contact information for experts within Switzerland.
• PROMOTE research opportunities and international contacts for Swiss students and scientists.
• OFFER networking opportunities through events and symposia (e.g. Swiss Ocean Day, Swiss Geoscience Meeting).
• REPRESENT the Swiss oceanography community in international commissions and international oceanographic bodies of experts.
• SUPPORT students who would like to study oceanography and limnology in Switzerland and abroad.
